B.1986 Mexico City. Gooey is a Los Angeles based artist, his work employs a wide range of media to explore themes of color, material and the transformation of a shape. Gooey’s work expands to embrace a wide range of outputs – including sculpture, painting, drawing, and installation.
Gooey’s work explores the possibility of the infinity of a shape and its variations, how many times can one shape be modified, disrupted and reduced to a minimum. His use of materials comes from his inspiration from architecture and interior design, and creating artworks that live and adapt organically to any space.the variation on materials come from the desire to connect nature with the industrialization of the world and its significance, often using found objects or recycling materials to connect the two worlds.

The name “Gooey” comes from the idea of creating “drip-like” organic shapes, that have soft and “gooey” edges as opposed as strong sharp lines. The name also refers to his first “character” created as an icon for his own self expression.
